Ridgefield WPCA Wastewater Facilities Construction Update: Detours on Limekiln Road, Construction Equipment on Lee and Haviland

Route 7 Pump Station, Force Main and Wastewater Treatment Facility Decommissioning Project 

The Water Pollution Control Authority’s Wastewater Facilities Upgrade project includes the construction of approximately 13,600 linear feet of new 8-inch diameter underground force main piping from the Route 7 Pump Station to the South Street Wastewater Treatment Facility. The existing Route 7 Pump Station will be demolished and replaced with a new pump station in the same location on Route 7. The existing Route 7 Wastewater Treatment Facility will be decommissioned and demolished. 

Typical construction hours have been extended to include a second shift from 3 p.m. to approximately 11 p.m. The first shift will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The intent of these extended hours is to reduce the duration of disruption in the upcoming work areas and expedite construction of the project. Police officers will be on detail to direct traffic during both shifts to protect public safety.

UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY WEEK ENDING 9/9/22 (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

* Continue force main installation along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road. Limekiln Road between Haviland Road and Nursery Road will be closed during the extended construction hours per the detour plan with traffic management by the Ridgefield Police Department (RPD). Typical construction hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

* Continue erosion control installation along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road.

* Continue survey layout along Limekiln Road and Haviland Road.

* No work on Labor Day.

PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE WEEK ENDING 9/16/22 (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

* Continue force main installation along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road. Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road will be closed during the extended construction hours per the detour plan with traffic management by RPD. Typical construction hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

* Continue erosion control installation along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road.

* Continue force main installation along Haviland Road between Limekiln Road and Still Road. Haviland Road between Limekiln Road and Still Road will be closed during the extended construction hours per the detour plan with traffic management by the Ridgefield Police Department (RPD). Typical construction hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

* Begin erosion control installation along Haviland Road between Limekiln Road and Still Road.

* Continue survey layout and erosion control installation along Limekiln Road and Haviland Road.

The WPCA will be posting weekly construction updates on the Town’s website for residents and businesses to view at www.ridgefieldct.org/water-pollution-control-authority-wpca.

Coordination between the Ridgefield Public School Department, the Ridgefield Police Detail Officers and the Contractor will continue with school in session to coordinate school bussing and child pickups and drop offs through construction areas.

ANTICIPATED IMPACTS TO RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES DURING CONSTRUCTION

* Minor traffic delays in the areas of work

* Detours around the areas of work on Limekiln Road

* Some areas with unfinished road conditions (steel plates and/or unpaved sections of road)

* Construction equipment will be mobilizing daily in the Limekiln Road, Lee Road, and Haviland Road areas
